One of the caliphs summoned the poets of Egypt..a poor poet encountered them with an empty jar, going to the sea to fill it with water..
So he accompanied them until they reached the House of the Caliphate.
And when the Caliph saw the man with the jar on his shoulder, he looked at his shabby clothes.
He said to him: Who are you? And what do you need?
I chanted the man:
And when I saw the people, they tightened their feet
To your tidal sea I brought my jar
The Caliph said:
Fill him the jar with gold and silver.
Some of those present envied him and said to the Caliph: This is a poor, crazy person. He does not know the value of this money. He may have destroyed it and lost it.
The Caliph said: It is his money and he does with it what he wants.. So his jar was filled with gold for him and he went out to the door and divided the money for all the poor..
And the Caliph reached that.. So the Caliph summoned him and asked him about that!
And the man said:
The good are generous to us with their money
And we prosper with the money of the benefactors
The Caliph was impressed by his answer and ordered that his jar be filled ten times.
And he said: A good deed is ten times that.
The poor man sang these poetic verses that have been circulating for hundreds of years:
People for people as long as they are fulfilled
The hard and the easy are times and hours
The most honorable of people among people is a man
His hand fulfills people’s needs
Do not cut off the hand of the known from anyone
As long as you appreciate and the days are treasures
And mention the virtue of God’s creation when it was made
To you, not to you when people have needs
So a people died, and their virtues did not
And a people lived while they were dead among people
The enjoyment of giving and fulfilling people’s needs.. only the great know it..
And those with good morals.
